Congratulations! You’ve completed your newborn photoshoot and are eagerly anticipating the final images of your precious little one. While the session itself is a big milestone, the process doesn’t end there. We personally cull each image with a fine-toothed comb to ensure perfection. Below, you will read what to expect after your newborn photoshoot and how we ensure you receive beautiful pieces of art.
Understanding What to Expect After Your Newborn Photoshoot
The Editing Process:
After your session, we email you the unedited photos, and you get to choose your favorites from the session. Once your favorites and package are selected, we start the process of professional editing. Newborn photography requires a delicate touch—our goal is to enhance the natural beauty of your baby while ensuring a polished, high-quality final product. We focus on:
- Softening skin tones and evening out skin tones while keeping a natural look (babies’ skin can be very different on different parts of baby’s body-some area’s red, yellow, etc)
- Correcting any redness, blemishes, or baby acne
- Perfecting lighting, contrast, shadows, and color balance
- Removing anyone from photos who were assisting with safety
This process typically takes 3 weeks to finalize your beautiful gallery.
New Edited Gallery Sent Out:
Once editing is complete, we email you back a new gallery of your edited selections. If you need anything at all, we encourage our clients to reach out so we can serve them in the best way possible. We also do recommend a great place to print! The one I think has best quality and price is printique.com.
Digital vs. Printed products:
Once you have received your gallery, you can choose how you will use the photos. Some people choose to do Digital files, and others do printed products.
- Digital Files: Your high-resolution images will be delivered via an online gallery where you can download and share them. These are great to save and share on social media.
- Printed Products: You can take your files once downloaded, and either upload them to a site like printique.com or you can save them to a USB or memory card to take into a store to print. You always want to make sure to go with a company that does high quality work so that your print will look just like the photographer intended
Preserving Your Memories:
Your newborn photos are timeless keepsakes, so it’s important to store them safely. We recommend:
- Downloading and backing up digital images in multiple locations(some photographers will keep photos forever but you always want to back them up incase!)
- Printing and displaying your photos to enjoy them daily
- Investing in high-quality albums to pass down through generations
Sharing Your Images:
We love when families share their newborn images on social media! If you post your photos, feel free to tag us—we’d love to see how you have displayed them in your home! If you’re comfortable with it, we may also feature your session on our website or social media (with your permission, of course!). We love to share our families!
Next Steps: Milestone Sessions:
Your baby will grow quickly, and we recommend capturing key milestones like sitter sessions (6-9 months), first birthday portraits, and family sessions to document their journey.
